After leaving his boyhood club Tottenham Hotspur, 30-year-old England national team captain Harry Kane continued his amazing start to his Bayern Munich career as the former Spurs forward and the all-time leading scorer of the Three Lions found the net twice in his first German Bundesliga 1 home start in Bayern Munich’s 3-1 win over FC Augsburg at the Allianz Arena. The Walthamstow-born striker’s brace in last weekend’s league fixture meant he has now scored thrice in his last two appearances for Stern des Südens, making him a joint-third top scorer in this 2023/2024 German Bundesliga 1 Season.
One Change in Tuchel’s Starting Lineup
Despite his Bayern Munich debut ended in disaster after the Bavarians fell to RB Leipzig in the DFL-Supercup thanks to Dani Almo’s outstanding hat-trick, Harry Kane needed no time to settle in his new life in German professional football. The England national team forward provided an instant impact for the German outfit during his full debut, when he scored Bayern’s third goal in their 4-0 victory over Werder Bremen on opening day of the German Bundesliga 1.
Harry Kane was part of the starting lineup Thomas Tuchel fielded for the 33-time German champions against FC Augsburg, with only German prodigy Jamal Musiala was replaced by his older compatriot Serge Gnabry in the 49-year-old’s starting squad last weekend.
The home side broke the deadlock just two minutes after the half-hour mark. Leroy Sané’s powerful strike at the right flank was saved by Finn Dahmen, but the ball ricocheted and hit Felix Uduokhai’s leg before the defender cleared it away. Upon checking his watch, the referee indicated that the ball has crossed the line and Bayern has been gifted with an own goal to open the score line.

Harry Kane: Three Goals in Two Matches
Shortly after Bayern Munich was 1-0 up in this German Bundesliga 1 fixture, captain Joshua Kimmich’s long-ranged effort found Niklas Dorsch’s hand in the penalty box. The decision was initially ruled a corner kick but referee soon awarded the home side with a penalty upon Video Assistant Referee (VAR) checks, meaning Harry Kane was to step up for his first spot kick for his new team. The 30-year-old penalty specialist made the goalkeeper guess the wrong way and smashed home his second goal in as many matches for Bayern Munich and Tuchel’s men kept the 2-0 lead until the half-time whistle.
With only about 20 minutes of normal playing time left on the clock, Harry Kane extended Bayern’s lead in the match via a devastating team effort. The goal happened when a buildup that started from the back unleashed left-back Alphonso Davies, who then played a one-two with left-winger Kingsley Coman. The Canadian left-back then torn the Augsburg defence, before setting up Harry Kane to score his second goal of the evening and Bayern’s third of the game.
Bayern’s evening could have been better if they managed to keep a clean sheet till the end of the game, but FC Augsburg’s substitute Dion Drena Beljo had a different idea and pulled one back for the visitors via a patient attacking play in the 86th minute. The 21-year-old Croatian’s strike meant Bayern has emerged as the 3-1 winner in this German Bundesliga 1 matchup.
