We all can agree that Sadio Mané has been an important figure for the rejuvenation of Liverpool in recent years, the trio of him, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino have contributed large sums of goals and assists in winning Liverpool’s first league title in 30 years as well as recapturing the UEFA Champions League crown. Knowing how important Mané is to the Kop, his departure from Liverpool to join German Bundesliga 1 giant Bayern Munich proves to be significant as Liverpool’s attacking replacements could not emulate the same intensity and gameplay and the team is now struggling for good form both domestically and internationally.
The 30-year-old player finished the last Ballon D’or race as the second-best player and his form for his new club has been amazing, scoring 11 goals in 23 matches in all competitions for Der FCB and played a vital role to push his country, Senegal, to their first back-to-back World Cup Finals appearance in history.
But his good fortune did not last. In Bayern Munich’s recent game against SV Werden Bremen that ended in a 6-1 crushing win, Mané was seen limping off the pitch just 20 minutes into the game and sparked worries to Senegal fans.

Biggest Name to Be Left Out of the World Cup
Among the injured players that will be missing the World Cup, namely Paul Pogba from France, Marco Reus from Germany, Diogo Jota from Portugal, Mané’s potential exclusion from the largest sporting event of the history would be a huge loss for not only the Senegal national football team, but also to football fans all across the world. Mané’s injury comes just 13 days before Senegal plays their first game at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, a clash against one of the favourites, the Netherlands. His tibial plateau had been seemingly hit and was visually in pain during the game.
Alious Cisse to Gamble on the Injured Mané
According to reliable sources, coach of the Lions of Teranga Aliou Cisse set to include the injured striker to his squad, which will be announced on Friday. The assistant coach of Bayern Munich Dino Toppmoeller has calmed the worries of many as despite the injury, Sadio Mané should be fit enough to contest in the World Cup, but the details of his injury as well as the recovery time can only be told after scans are done.
Sadio Mané is the latest casualty that is affected by the first World Cup to be held in a mid-season period, which raises the question of whether the tournament should be awarded to a Middle Eastern State in the first place.
